This picture was inspired by a beautiful photograph I saw on Instagram, taken by indigenous nature photographer Ryan Dickie of Winter Hawk Studios in British Columbia. He had taken a gorgeous shot of the northern lights, viewed from the ground looking up through the trees, and I wanted so badly to capture that same majesty and silent mystery in a painting. It was one of my first attempts at digital painting (while I was still figuring out how to use the settings and brushes in the app), but I ended up being very pleased with the outcome.

This picture was drawn and colored in the Procreate app on an iPad. As the original is a digital file, it is only available for purchase as a print. Your digital painting will be printed on archival quality, acid-free 80 Lb paper with a matte finish, unless otherwise requested. If you want your print on satin or high gloss archival photo paper, please contact me at check out with those instructions so I can make sure your print looks exactly the way you want it to.
